Caffeine, alcohol and sugar
By Tony Papas
While some foods have a positive influence on levels of energy and vitality to the body, there are some others that have undoubtedly the opposite effect. Some foods are known as enemies of energy, the main culprits are coffee, chocolate, soft drinks, sugar and alcohol. You eat chocolate and drink coffee to get energy, drink soft drinks to cool and alcoholic beverages to turn your fun. But do you know that all these "foods" are enemies of energy? Take a look at what will follow and find out why all these types of everyday life, ultimately deprive you of much energy you want to have as an organism. Caffeine The caffeine in the diet comes from a variety of sources such as coffee, tea and some soft drinks (cola). Chocolate also contains a substance similar to caffeine and has a similar effect in the body. While caffeine can improve short-term energy levels, energy is often followed by a period of increasing fatigue. Indeed, very often, those who drink soft drinks with caffeine, coffee and tea, they discover that they are dependent to some extent from those to maintain their energy levels. Moreover, excessive consumption of caffeine can cause problems such as tachycardia, anxiety and insomnia. Sugariness foods and beverages Consumption of foods and beverages high in sugar like cakes, biscuits, cakes and soft drinks, usually operates in negative energy levels. These foods cause rapid increase of blood glucose resulting in the organism to want to compensate, thereby creating problems with low blood glucose (hypoglycaemia) and subsequent low levels of physical and mental energy. Reduce your desire to eat sugariness foods by having regular meals and nutritious snacks, avoiding low blood glucose. Alcohol Alcohol can cause lethargy and even after getting drunk, it quickly releases glucose into the blood and can later cause problems of hypoglycaemia. So try some of the alternative drinks I suggest below and you'll see the difference: herbal infusions and fruit juices, water and delicious smoothies from yogurt and fruit. |
